Ongoing Smarthome installation in Kent

The owners of this Kent home requested a fully wired/ wireless network with VLAN's, CCTV, alarms and Sonos throughout the home.

We removed the EE supplied router and fitted a Unifi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro) and configured it to communicate with the gateway directly eliminating the need for the EE router. The UDM Pro handles all of the wifi access points and the 4 VLAN's we created directly from the Unifi OS it has built in.

For security reasons VLAN's were utilised to isolate guest wifi, the CCTV system and IOT devices from the main network.

Three Unifi UAP6 and one AC-M access points were fitted all broadcasting three SSID's. Those being the main wifi network reserved for the residents, an IOT (Internet of Things) wifi network and a Guest wifi network.

Seven Hikvision HD CCTV cameras with onboard sound and a Hikvision NVR were used for the CCTV installation.

The main network switch we used was a Netgear GS324TP followed by a Netgear GS110TP in another part of the house to allow the use of VLAN and power the cameras and access points.

Two Pyronix Enforcer V11 alarm panels were used in this case with a Volumetric sensor on the drive to alert the users of any presence on the drive.

Lastly we fitted a pair of Bose 251 Enviromental speakers for the garden and a stereo pair of Sonos Play One SL in the kitchen.

Next we will be looking to install Smart Heating system to make it more efficient and cheaper to run.
